The Conservatives want to evict low-income seniors because they have cats. If you think that evicting seniors for having a companion is wrong, please sign our petition.
New Brunswick Housing Corporation does not allow any pets in their subsidized housing. Minister Sue Stultz can make the choice to keep these seniors in their homes, by changing the NB Housing regulation that prevents tenants like seniors in Lions Towers from keeping pets.
In 2006, Ontario changed their Residential Tenancies Act so no landlord can evict a tenant for owning a pet.
Tenants in New Brunswick deserve the same.
Landlords have the right to protect their property, and tenants should be held accountable for damage. The Residential Tenancies Act should focus on irresponsible tenants, not responsible animal lovers.
