"Our province needs sensible, pragmatic government"
April 21, 2010
QUISPAMSIS-Small businessman Matt Doherty is seeking the New Democratic Party nomination for the constituency of Quispamsis.
The small business owner says “The Liberals and the Conservatives make promises of jobs, growth, and self-sufficiency but they’ve given us debt, deficits, and cynicism.”
Matt Doherty, who has lived in Quispamsis for more than 30 years, represented Atlantic Canadian Air Canada workers with the Canadian Auto Workers. In 2006 he launched an IT business with clients across North America; he is also partner in a property management company.
Mr. Doherty has been involved in his community from an early age. Appointed to the United Way Board of Directors at the age of 25, Doherty served for 10 years. A football coach for the KV Bantam Football team in 2009, Doherty joined the Rothesay High School Parent School Support Committee (PSSC) in 2009.
“It is time for Quispamsis to have real local representation. We deserve a strong voice that can address issues including the future of NB Power, education and healthcare. The Liberals wanted to sell NB Power, David Alward’s position is to hide his opinion until after the election. The NDP is running on a sensible and restrained platform that will help our community develop.”
Doherty lives in Quispamsis with his wife Krista and two sons, Marcus (14) and Zachary (6).
