BATHURST- Members of the NDP gathered in Bathurst on Sunday to nominate their candidate for the provincial election this fall. Sebastian Duke, an activist with the Boilermakers union, won the nomination by acclamation.
“The Liberal and Conservative MLAs from our region have been silent on the NB Power deal. We need an NDP MLA in Bathurst that will stand with the people and fight for our community,” said Duke during his acceptance speech.
Acadie-Bathurst MP Yvon Godin and NDP Leader Roger Duguay also addressed the meeting, “This election is our only chance to stand up against the two traditional parties, which have run our province’s finances into the ground, and say enough is enough. The NDP will be running strong candidates in every corner of our province and will be offering a reasonable and pragmatic plan for New Brunswick,” said Duguay.
The NDP has nomination meetings planned throughout the province in the upcoming months in order to run a full slate of candidates.
