NB Power Not For Sale

A Statement by NB NDP Leader Roger Duguay:

Shawn Graham's secret plan to sell NB Power has shocked us all. We have many questions, and no answers. But one thing has become clear: New Brunswickers don't want this deal. 

And one thing is for sure: The NDP is 100% opposed to this deal.

Selling our power company to Quebec is a big mistake. 

New Brunswick Power must stay in New Brunswick, and New Brunswickers must stay in charge of NB Power.

Issues of public versus private ownership, of green technology and green jobs. All of these are important conversations, but they are conversations for later: if we don't stop this deal, right now, we will not be able to have those conversations. 

If this deal goes through we will lose the power to control NB Power. 

Decisions on privatization will be made by the government of Quebec.

Decisions on renewable energy will be made by the government of Quebec.

NB Power is at the heart of New Brunswick's economy.

If this deal goes through we will have no voice, and no power.

This deal, this government, these Liberals in Fredericton: they need to be unplugged.

Only the NDP speaks clearly for the people of New Brunswick and our right to decide our own energy future.

Unplug the Liberals. Support the NDP.
