(Moncton) Former federal conservative candidate for Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe Charles Doucet gratefully accepted the nomination to serve as NDP candidate for Moncton Southwest last Thursday evening during a well-attended meeting held at the Beausejour Curling Club.
“From the bottom of my heart, I have to tell you I’m deeply moved that you so quickly and unconditionally chose to offer both me and the NDP your support. I truly believe that the NDP, and its leader Dominic Cardy have the plan, have what it takes to get this province back on track” Mr. Doucet told the audience to a rousing round of applause.
NDP leader Dominic Cardy used the occasion to promote the recently released NDP plan to offer up 49% of NB Liquor’s profits in the form of an income trust with a guaranteed 6% return, capable of doing away with as much as 1.1 Billion dollars of public debt. Coupled with a program to downsize government and do away with corporate welfare, the NDP confirmed they have a clear and aggressive plan to wrestle the provincial finances into submission.
Mr. Doucet plans to start actively campaigning as soon as possible, going door to door throughout Moncton Southwest. He will be promoting the NB New Democrats combination of fiscally conservative, socially progressive policies to a public that appears increasingly willing to consider voting outside the traditional two parties.
